In Shenmue the player can earn an achievement/trophy by finishing first in the daily forklift race that Ryo must participate in. The official requirement is to win a forklift race.
How to Unlock
Once you get a job at the New Yokosuka Harbor District you'll take part in a daily forklift race. This can be a little tricky, so consider saving before you sleep the night before work, so that you can reload the save until you win.
- Driving Technique: Push the stick fully to the side to swing round the corners. Avoid hitting or getting caught on objects.
- Overtaking: Undertake on the inside of corners. If you are ahead of the forklift you are undertaking, you should make it through.
- The Shortcut: There is a section toward the end of the lap where you can cut through where the AI drivers don't, though it only saves a small amount of time.
- Strategy: By the last lap, you should either be in front or directly behind forklift number 1. If you're behind, stay close and wait until the last shortcut to undertake.
Note: This trophy is considered missable as you are only able to attempt this during the time you work at the harbor. It is advised to go for this as soon as you get the job.
