Tom Clancy's The Division is an action role-playing game set in a near-future New York City in the aftermath of a viral pandemic. The player assumes the role of a Special Agent of the Strategic Homeland Division, tasked with helping to rebuild operations in Manhattan, investigate the outbreak, and combat criminal activity.
The game features a third-person cover-based shooting system, cooperative and player versus player online multiplayer, and an open-world environment with destructible elements.
Players can engage in missions, explore various districts, and participate in the Dark Zone, a high-risk area where players can encounter both enemies and other players for PvP or PvE combat. The game also includes an RPG element with progression systems, gear customization, and loot acquisition. It was developed by Massive Entertainment and published by Ubisoft, utilizing the Snowdrop game engine.
