Alone in the Dark (2008) is a survival horror video game developed by Eden Games and published by Atari Interactive. It is the fifth installment in the Alone in the Dark series and was released for multiple platforms, including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, and Wii, in June 2008. The PlayStation 3 version, titled Alone in the Dark: Inferno, was released in November 2008 and included several enhancements. The game is structured into DVD-style "episodes," allowing players to start from the beginning or skip to specific sections if they get stuck.
The gameplay involves interacting with the environment, collecting items, and solving puzzles, with a focus on survival horror elements. The story follows Edward Carnby, a detective investigating a series of supernatural events in Central Park, which leads him to encounter various supernatural entities and a mysterious artifact known as the Stone. The game features a unique inventory system where players can use environmental objects as weapons and combine items to solve puzzles.
In a sequence during episode 6 of the game the player is instructed to drive a forklift to build platforms from boxes. It is also used to lift a stuck door for the player to pass through.
