The Evil Within 2 is a survival horror game developed by Tango Gameworks and published by Bethesda Softworks, released in October 2017 for PlayStation 4, Windows, and Xbox One.
The game follows detective Sebastian Castellanos as he enters a new world called Union to rescue his daughter, Lily, who is being used as the "Core" of this world by the shadowy organization Mobius.
The game features larger maps with multiple ways to progress, allowing players to explore freely and complete side objectives while managing scarce resources. Gameplay includes both direct confrontation with enemies using weapons and stealth mechanics, with a crafting system that enables players to create new items such as ammunition.
The game received generally positive reviews, with praise for its visuals, atmosphere, and gameplay, though some criticism was directed at its story and characters. The Evil Within 2 also introduced a first-person perspective option, which was well-received by players.
The game's story was written by Syoji Ishimine and Trent Haaga, who aimed to make the plot easier to understand compared to the first game. The game's development began in March 2015, with Shinji Mikami stepping down as director and becoming the game's producer.
