Payday 2 is a co-op heist shooter where players take on the role of a criminal crew carrying out high-stakes robberies in Washington, D.C. After a two-year hiatus, the gang, led by the mysterious Bain through his network Crime.net, returns to commit a series of increasingly complex heists. Players plan and execute missions like bank raids, jewelry store robberies, and armored car hijackings, often spanning multiple days, requiring precise coordination, stealth, and combat skills. The game features deep customization, a dynamic skill tree, and a story-driven campaign that unfolds through a series of missions, culminating in a large-scale conflict involving rival gangs, corrupt officials, and hidden conspiracies.

Gameplay

In Payday 2 you start by casing a location in stealth mode, scouting cameras, guards, and vaults before donning masks and weapons to carry out the job. Missions range from bank heists and jewelry store raids to prison breaks and drug deals, often spanning multiple days with evolving objectives. Success depends on teamwork, communication, and strategy—whether you're going silent to avoid alarms or going loud with heavy firepower. After each heist, you earn money, experience, and loot, which you can use to upgrade weapons, unlock new skills, and customize cosmetic masks. The game emphasizes dynamic, high-tension combat as police reinforcements flood in, requiring constant coordination to survive and escape.

Forklifts

Becoming drivable with the release of the Meltdown heist, the Forklift (Payday 2) is a handy but slow vehicle that can move around several lootbags at once. In The Alesso Heist, its forks are occupied by a stack of cardboard boxes, preventing the Forklift from being used as loot transportation. The Forklift returns in Dragon Heist, where its forks are used to gain access to the warehouse if the heist goes loud. After using its forks, the Forklift breaks and becomes undrivable.

Like the Falcogini, the Forklift appears in heists as non-drivable decorative elements, in Big Oil Day 1, Street Escape, Transport: Train Heist, Election Day Day 1 and Day 2 Plan A/B, Shadow Raid, White Xmas, The Bomb: Dockyard, Beneath the Mountain, Murky Station, Get the Coke Day 2, and Henry's Rock. In Election Day, the forklifts can be used to create guard-distracting noise, but can't be used after either a guard turns it off, or the alarm is raised.

It very closely resembles a Toyota 1.0-3.5 Tonne 8-Series 4-Wheel Forklift.
